In Mumbai, the CBI has filed a chargesheet against income-tax officer Sandeep Singh. Singh, who was on deputation as an assistant director at the Enforcement Directorate (ED), was allegedly caught accepting a bribe in August. He led an ED search team that raided a jeweler's residence in connection with a money laundering case related to an investment app controlled by Chinese nationals. Despite not being an investigating officer, Singh is accused of demanding a bribe of Rs 20 lakh from the jeweler after the raid, threatening to arrest his son in the case. The jeweler reported the incident to the CBI, who set a trap and arrested Singh in Delhi after he accepted the bribe. Singh, whose bail application was previously denied, is currently in jail. The CBI also seized a phone not registered in Singh's name during his arrest.
